I don’t normally post pictures of food, much less, food I cooked myself, but I’m pretty proud of this. This is my grandmother’s cornbread recipe, made in my mom’s cast iron skillet. Most cornbread is sweet and a lot less dense (more like cake), but my grandmother’s is more on the bitter side and much more dense (making good eating with greens, black eyed peas, etc.). My grandmother is now 97 years old, and she doesn’t cook anymore, but I’m glad to have her recipe passed down to me.
