The picture on the left is the delegate count from KATU-2 and on the right is the count from Frontloading HQ. I came across the KATU pic on Facebook, and it struck me as odd, because they gave Santorum 44 delegates. That’s odd, because Santorum really only has 4 delegates: 3 from Nevada and 1 automatic delegate.

Apparently KATU is giving Santorum delegates from IA, CO, MN and MO (the caucus states he has won), even though those delegates have not been chosen and in most cases will be unpledged or unbound to any candidate when they arrive in Tampa for the national convention.

I bring this up, because I started following the delegate race in 2008, as I assume most people did, and I’ve been following it more closely this time around, learning more about the allocation process which is pretty complex given the different rules in each state and the different rules of each party, and overcoming some assumptions I had from the 2008 race.
