Went and saw The Iron Lady tonight. My knowledge of Margaret Thatcher is at best superficial, nor do I know much about the history of Britain during this period (if you want to talk medieval Britain, I could go all night); on that basis, I found the movie quite enjoyable (in other words, my ignorance allowed me to sit through the movie without being disgusted by some historical inaccuracy). I personally prefer when they play it straight with the chronology of a story, but the flashbacks weren’t overbearing and were threaded in nicely. I had two motivations for seeing this movie: 1) it’s a film about an historical political figure (can’t beat that), and 2) Meryl Streep, whom I think is a wonderful actress - having enjoyed her work in several movies - was playing in the starring role as Margaret Thatcher.
