About me

I am a native Texan, graduated from St. Edward’s University with a degree in political science (focus on campaign management), and have worked on campaigns and in the state capitol.

The primary purpose of this blog is to pass along some of the things I have learned and things I am just now learning.

I have a keen interest in Texas politics, which primarily is what I discuss. I will occasionally discuss, or link to articles about, national or international issues.

I am a conservative; very much in the sense of Russell Kirk as a person who endeavors to conserve the best in our traditions and our institutions, reconciling that best with necessary reform from time to time.

Other thinkers who have had an influence on my philosophical development are Aristotle, St. Thomas Aquinas, Niccolo Machiavelli, David Hume, Alexander Hamilton and Edmund Burke.

You’ll also notice that I also spend a lot of time talking about football and books; my other passions aside from Texas politics. (I am in the process of focusing this blog more on politics, but I will still talk football from time to time, especially if anyone has questions about it).

This blog does not represent the views of anyone for whom I may currently be working.
